✝ Catholic Homily Builder
For the chancery
November 2026
A faithful starting point for every homily in your diocese.
Homily preparation for priests and deacons, built from the day’s readings and held to the teaching of the Church. The priest remains the homilist: the draft is his to pray with, shape and preach in his own voice.
What your clergy get
- •The readings for the day, from the U.S. Lectionary in the right year of the cycle: Sundays, weekdays, feasts, funerals, weddings and school Masses.
- •A draft in four parts around one clear point (the truth in the readings, why it matters, the call, the reason), shaped for who will be listening.
- •Lengths from 3 to 15 minutes, in English, Spanish or French.
- •A second, separate review of every draft against Church teaching.
- •Edit, copy and print freely, or save a homily privately to come back to.
- •30 homilies per priest each month. Deacons included at no charge.
How it stays faithful
- Anchored in the Church’s own sources. Every homily is built from the Lectionary readings for the day and held to the Catechism, the Magisterium, and the Church’s guidance on preaching, including the Homiletic Directory.
- Defined doctrine is never softened. The Real Presence, the sacraments, the Marian dogmas, and the moral law are presented as the Church teaches them. Dissent is never offered as an option.
- No invented quotations. Nothing is attributed to a Pope, a saint, or the Catechism unless it is certain. When in doubt, the draft paraphrases instead of citing.
- The homily belongs to the ordained. At Mass the homily is reserved to a priest or deacon (canon 767). Teachers, catechists, and other lay leaders receive a Scripture reflection, never a homily.
- A second, separate reading. After each draft is written, a separate review reads it against Church teaching and flags anything to look at, with the reason and a faithful rewording.
- No partisan politics. Homilies stay with the Word. Prudential questions are never presented as doctrine, and nothing partisan is put in a homilist’s mouth.
Privacy and data
- •The diocese sees counts only: homilies prepared, clergy using it, enrolled and signed in, with a short report by email on the first of each month. Never what a priest writes.
- •A homily is kept only if the priest saves it to his own account, where only he can see it. Drafts are not used to train AI models.
- •Encrypted in transit and at rest; hosted in the United States (Vercel and Supabase). We never sell personal information or homily content.
- •A Data Processing Agreement is available on request.
How a diocese runs it
- •Your diocese gets its own page on catholichomily.com.
- •Clergy sign in with a one-click link sent to their email. No passwords, nothing to install.
- •Enroll clergy from a list of emails, or let anyone with your diocesan email address sign in. Administrators add or remove people at any time.
The pilot and the price
A 90-day pilot at no cost, with the priests and deacons you choose. Then $9.97 per priest per month, billed to the diocese once a year. Deacons are free. No credit cards, and we can work around your fiscal year.
Next steps
- A 20 minute call with this Sunday’s readings, every question about doctrine and privacy answered.
- Plan the pilot around your clergy and the preaching calendar.
- Decide at day 90. A W-9 and a Data Processing Agreement are available on request.
In its 2025 note Antiqua et Nova, the Holy See taught that AI must remain a tool, never a substitute for the person. That is how this is built. Built by Catholics: Mike Sweigart, a lifelong Catholic in Atlanta.
